Arrests Made in Multiple Old Navy Retail Thefts

The store saw five retail thefts over a two week period, police say.

The following information was supplied by Marple Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.   Police investigated multiple retail thefts at Old Navy on the 400 S. State Rd in Springfield recently. On April 30, at about 5:19 p.m., the store's loss prevention officer detained a 23-year-old Philadelphia woman in connection with a retail theft, according to the report. The woman was observed by the store employees, placing $157.18 worth of items into her purse and continuing to walk past all points of sale without any attempt to pay for the items, according to the report. The woman was processed and released. On May 1, at about 3:15 p.m., a loss prevention officer told police that a woman had taken …

Marple Police Officers Haughey, Ronsvalle, Baylor Receive Commendation

Several Marple Township police officers were honored with the 2012 awards for outstanding police work recently.

Several Marple Township police officers were honored at a township meeting in May. Marple Police Chief Tom Murray presented the officers with the 2012 awards for outstanding police work.   Officer Jeffrey Haughey, Officer Andrew Ronsvalle and Officer Peter Baylor received a Written Commendation for Efficient Police Work. The award reads as follows: Please be advised that your names were submitted to the Police Department Honor Board, for consideration for your police action on May 31, 2012. Marple Township Police responded to a report of Criminal Mischief to a vehicle on Warren Blvd. The victim reported that her car had been pelted with eggs and that two of the tires on the car were slashed. Several Marple Township police officers were honored with the 2012 awards for outstanding police work recently.

Several Marple Township police officers were honored at a recent township meeting. Marple Police Chief Tom Murray presented the officers with the 2012 awards for outstanding police work. Look for these officer awards to be posted over the next several weeks. Officer Steve Benecke, Officer Chris Chermak, Officer Dan Lazzari and Officer Edward Rosen received the Life Saved Award.  The award reads as follows: Please be advised that your name was submitted to the Police Department Honor Board, for consideration for your part in rendering aid and saving a person's life on April 24, 2012. 246 Marple Police Calls in April

Marple Township Police responded to one residential burglary in April, police say.

Marple Township Police responded to 246 calls for service in April, Marple Police Chief Tom Murray said at the May 6 workshop meeting. Below is a breakdown of some of those police calls. Comparing the first four months of 2013 to the first four months of 2012, Murray said, thefts are down 21 percent and vandalism is down 25 percent. "This is certainly a good thing," Murray said. "I'm pleased with the numbers." He said he believes part of the decline in thefts is that residents are locking their car doors and not giving people an opportunity to break in to vehicles. In April, Marple Township had one burglary, Murray said, and for the first three months of the year, the township saw 20 burglaries. "We had an arrest in the early part of March…

Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.   Vandalism—unit block of Evergreen Avenue in Broomall at about 6:27 p.m. on April 13—Sometime overnight unknown persons ripped off both sideview mirrors of a 2005 Ford Focus, according to the report. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and the victim told police she was awoken at about 2:30 a.m. by a loud noise and when she looked out the window she saw two young teenagers running through her neighbor's yard across the street, according to the report. Thieves Hide Stolen Items in Separate Retail Thefts, Police Say

A man puts a more expensive item into a box marked on sale in a Home Depot theft, police say.

The following information was supplied by Marple Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.   Retail Theft—Walmart 400 S. State Road in Springfield at 5:55 p.m. on April 19—Police were dispatched to the store for a report of a man and woman, with a young child, who had left the store after taking merchandise and drove off in a black Chevrolet, according to the report. As police arrived, they were notified that the man was back in the store in the foyer area and police brought the man in to a Walmart security office, according to the report. Store security told police that the man paid for an iPad in the electronics department and then he and the woman placed more items in the bags from the …
