Delaware County Veterans Memorial Dedicated

First US Secretary of Homeland Security, former Pa. Governor and Veteran Tom Ridge speaks on moving freedom forward.

Delaware County's Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square was dedicated and honored in a ceremony Saturday amongst hundreds of people. Several people spoke and were thanked during the ceremony including former Pa. Gov. Tom Ridge, Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett, U.S. Congressman Pat Meehan, Vice Chairman of Delaware County Council Mario Civera, DVCMA Founding Member Linda Houldin and landowner and major donor Claude de Botton. The Delaware County Veterans Memorial is located off of West Chester Pike/Route 3 and Alice Grim Blvd. in Newtown Square, Edgmont Township.

Expect Traffic Delays on West Chester Pike Saturday

The dedication of the Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square is expected to cause traffic delays Saturday morning.

The Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square will be dedicated in a ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Traffic delays are expected along West Chester Pike in Newtown Square.  Detours will begin at 9:30 a.m. and be removed at about 1:30 p.m. The westbound lanes of West Chester Pike will be closed between Campus Boulevard and the border with Edgmont Township and westbound traffic will be diverted onto the eastbound side of West Chester Pike, according to the Newtown Township website. Both east and west bound traffic will occupy a single lane in each direction on the eastbound side of the pike. Click here for more information about the dedication ceremony.

Michael Damroth, of Newtown Square, died at 87. Dorothy McPherson, of Newtown Square, died at 77. Richard Balentine, of Broomall, died at 38. Oliver Keating, of Broomall, died on April 14. New Left-Turn Lane On Route 252

A new left-turn lane has been created along Rt. 252/South Newtown Street Road.

In case you missed it, a new left-turn lane has been created for the new luxury townhomes being constructed along Route 252/South Newtown Street Road, across from the Shops at Springton Pointe in Newtown Square. The left-turn lane leads into the entrance way for The Grande at Muirwood Hill, a new townhome development.

Awesome. A turn lane that goes into a construction site, but up the road is still a road that is closed because of an unsafe bridge from like 2010. i guess one of the township officials will be living in this development, and saw a need for this.   more ›

Sunday, April 21 is Volunteer Recognition Day. It kicks off a week dedicated to highlighting the good work that volunteers of all stripes do on a daily basis across the country. We asked people through out Facebook and Twitter pages to let us know which volunteers in their lives should be highlighted.
