Where Were You When President John F. Kennedy Was Shot?

Bells will toll on Friday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, on Nov. 22, 1963, that now, years later, is still a sharp pain for the many Americans who remember where they were when they heard the news.

People in Pennsylvania and the rest of the country can still remember where they were when they heard the news, and how they reacted after they understood that their president had been shot.

Maria Calafati Kollar told Marple Newtown Patch on Facebook: 

In my 2nd grade classroom. Principal came over the PA and asked us to stop and pray for the President who had just been shot. We were confused when our teacher began to cry. A short time later, after a prayer and no activity in the room, a priest came to the door and told us he was dead. I arrived home at 3:30 and my parents were sitting on the sofa in front of the TV sobbing. I didn't understand what dead and killed meant. This was the era when the most violent thing on TV was Gunsmoke. I was 6 years old.
