This week at the PRC Newtown Square Farmers' Market, pick up some homemade spices and spice up your life (and your food).

What is the Mistress of Spice:

These are spice blends. Each one is different and is a collection of herbs and spices to create an exotic flavor for cooking, grilling, marinating or dipping. They are also great on popcorn and salads.

What's in Season:

We have 21 blends, one is sweet and the rest are savory, and all of our ingredients are high quality. They ran the gamut from an oregano blend to a chocolate and lavender or chocolate and coffee blend. We have traditional and non-traditional and they all have interesting names, too.

Most Popular Item:

Our citrus blend is different because it's not just lemon and pepper but it's a lemon, orange and pepper blend. Cowboy Keeper spice is a tex-mex, southwestern blend, and is excellent in chili and great for your Mexican dishes. Pumpkin Pizzazz is also popular. We've been told that the Pumpkin Pizzazz tastes like heaven. That's what they tell us.

Why Bring Your Goods to the Farmers Market:

I'm trying to bring awareness to people that spices are not just for heat but for flavor and to promote healthy eating. There's a lot of stuff in the stores and we've been trained to do pre-packaged cooking but a lot of the same flavors we have here, without all the chemicals. There are no preservatives or additives or MSG in Mistress of Spice spices. We are straight herbs and spices with a minimum amount of salt.

Best Part of the Farmers Market:

Not just the people, but how everyone who comes here is looking for a better way of life. Since I've started doing these markets, even I've started shopping at the farmers market instead of going to the supermarket, like we've been trained to do for years. Everything here is usually a better quality, all the fruits are sweeter and the vegetables are better, everything is better.

Shameless Plug:

We're also at the Artisan Market in West Chester and East Goshen Farmers Market. Find the Mistress on Facebook too and give them a Like
