Residents Escape Pennview Ave. House Fire

A firefighter sustained minor injuries in the blaze, fire officials say.

Marple Township residents escaped a basement fire in the early morning hours Thursday, fire officials said. 

There was heavy fire coming from the rear of a house on the 2900 block of Pennview Ave. in Broomall at about 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, according to Broomall Fire Co. Public Information Officer Tony Cavarocchi.

The fire extended throughout the first floor of the home. 

Everyone inside the residence escaped the blaze without injury however one firefighter was treated at Crozer Chester Medical Center for minor burns and was released later that morning, according to Cavarocchi.

Fire crews from Broomall, Newtown Square, Rose Tree, Springfield, Drexel Hill and Swarthmore responded to the scene, along with Fire Police and crews from Marple EMS and Marple Township Police.
